pejibaye m. C. Rica), Hond. y Nic. Árbol de las Palmáceas, de zonas tropicales húmedas, de tronco áspero y cilíndrico, hojas pecioladas con un nervio central recio y leñoso, flores en panícula, frutos rojos o amarillos al madurar, que son comestibles. Las hojas sirven para techar casas.
